E-FLOT

DYNAMIC MUST CLARIFICATION SYSTEM

The range of E-Flot flotation equipment, designed by AEB ENGINEERING, allows the optimisation of the clarification of the must. With the help of E-Flot, the winemaker will be able to achieve faster clarification, reducing the energy expenditure in the winery thanks to a limited use of cooling systems.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES FOR AUTOMATION IN THE WINERY

AEB ENGINEERING is the division specialised in the production of plants and equipment which, thanks to its know-how and to its 100% internal and on-site production, guarantees the highest quality and reliability of the AEB technologies. The uniqueness of AEB ENGINEERING is given by the constant support of our technicians, both during installation and after sales. For an unparalleled service that is flexible and tailored to the customer needs.

BETTER CLARIFICATION WITH THE FLOTATION TECHNIQUE

Flotation may be described as a must clarification process where the solid grape residues are separated from the juice. This is done by using a machine which incorporates a gas (nitrogen or CO2) in the must with a clarifying adjuvant, so as to bring all the flocculated solids to the top of the tank, leaving the clarified must in the lower part, ready to be removed and brought into the fermentation tank.

Thanks to this method, the clarification of the must becomes faster than the traditional cold decanting technique, drastically increasing the capacity of the winery and allowing it to recover a higher percentage of clean must. The result is a more profitable clarification compared to cold decanting. Moreover, the clarification by flotation makes it possible to reduce the energy expenditure in the winery, because it limits the use of the cooling system, thus allowing the production of a more sustainable wine. With E-Flot, the winemaker can reach the maximum performance during the clarification process, respecting the organoleptic and sensorial quality of the wine.

E-FLOT 50 CNT: SYSTEM TO ADAPT THE NEW FLOTATION TECHNOLOGY TO CONTINUOUSLY OPERATING SYSTEMS

This special model has been designed to be integrated into standard continuous pool flotation systems and completely replaces the saturation unit.

OPERATION

Clarification of musts by means of the E-Flot system uses the principle of incorporating a gas into the solids that constitute the turbidity in the liquid. The gas binds to the suspended particles, which then float towards the surface of the tank, leaving the lower part of the tank clear. For this process to take place, the must has to be fully depectinised.

For this purpose, a specific enzyme such as Endozym E-Flot is recommended. It has the properties of rapid action combined with the ability to completely degrade all components in the colloid. In order to obtain optimal flotation, i.e., an improved must clarity and a clearer diminution in turbidity, we suggest using E-Gel, which will allow the formation of flocs of a consistency to ensure that all unnecessary particles are incorporated. Other clarifiers such as bentonite or silica sol can be used if the desire is to obtain a must deproteinization or the elimination of the carbon in suspension before the fermentation.

E-Flot’s highly versatile nature derives from its patented usage options which allows both the introduction of the gas into the pump inlet to produce exceptionally clear musts, and the dosing of the gas at the outlet, which considerably increases the hourly flow rate.
