The new regulation of wine labels

From 8 December 2023, it will be mandatory to label the list of ingredients and the nutrition declaration of wines according to Regulation (EU) 2021/2117 published on 2 December 2021 amending the labelling rules for wines and aromatised wines.

It will be possible to provide this information, only under certain conditions, via an electronic label or e-label. It will still be mandatory to indicate on the physical label the presence of allergenic substances and the energy value of 100 mL of wine or aromatised wine.

All wines produced and labelled after 8 December 2023 will have to include the ingredient list and nutrition information.

As AEB, we believe it is of fundamental importance to contribute to the deepening and knowledge of this important novelty to which all wine producers will have to align themselves. This is why, with the help of Œnoppia, the international organisation that brings together producers of biotechnologies, additives and adjuvants for wine, we decided to organise a webinar open to all to explain the new electronic label in detail.

Our free webinar will be held on Monday January 30, 2023 at 5:00 PM (CET – Central European Time) on Microsoft Teams platform.

The webinar will be held in English language by Stéphane La Guerche, General Manager of Œnoppia, and has the aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the regulation.

IMPORTANT: in order to better understand the topics covered, all participants will receive S. La Guerche's presentation of the talk in different languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese) by e-mail before the webinar.

Main topics of the webinar

  • Mandatory information in the physical label
  • Additives and processing aids classified as ingredients that will have to be indicated on the e-label
  • Timing of entry into force of the new labelling
  • Results of market research carried out by Œnoppia
